The garden honors the historic landscape plan for the house while considering contemporary needs. The new design incorporates relevant geologic conditions and planning schemes such that both garden and park feel a part of the same landscape including planting schemes from the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir and the rockery consists of the bedrock, or Manhattan Schist.
